Dataviz sketching session
How would your approach within a data-driven project change if you started by sketching offscreen instead of jumping directly into visualisation software or code?
In this session, participants undertake a series of fast-paced drawing challenges that teach design strategies for quick off-screen ideation when coming up with creative, custom visualisation methods for any output, software, or design field.
Prerequisites: (very) basic spreadsheet skills. No drawing skills necessary!
- Why start by drawing your data?
- Introduction to rule-based drawing as an approach to creating a data visualisation.
- Quick offscreen visualisation techniques: learning approaches to quickly sketch visualisation ideas and push visual experimentation.
The entire workshop will be off-screen.
